According to Vice President Kashim Shettima, robust institutional reforms can address 80% of Nigeria’s policy and bureaucratic issues.
Shettima made this statement during the State House’s formal unveiling of the National Public Policy Development and Management Framework draft.
Hadiza Usman, the Head of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) and Special Advisor to the President on Policy and Coordination, gave a presentation at the event held at the State House.
Shettima called for a national reset in the creation, dissemination, and implementation of government policies, characterizing the new policy framework as a revolutionary approach that has been “far overdue” in Nigeria’s governance architecture.
“If we get our institutional frameworks right, we will solve 80% of our public policy challenges. This approach is long overdue,” he declared.
Noting that every government’s core is a viable national public policy, he advocated for a national reset in the conception, dissemination, and application of public policy.
Shettima commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting his readiness to enact radical reforms and his distinctive combination of expertise from the public and private sectors.
“For the first time, we have a leader who understands the dynamics and speaks the language of economics. He has the courage to take far-reaching decisions. We cannot but commend President Tinubu for his very promising reforms across all sectors of the national economy,” he remarked.
