Nigeria and Canada have finalized a Code-sharing Agreement under a new Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) to enhance air connectivity and passenger convenience.
The announcement was made by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo through a statement on his official X account. He stated that he had signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during a formal signing ceremony in Abuja.
The Canadian government had already signed its portion of the deal in Ottawa earlier in the month. The document was transmitted through the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Pasquale Salvaggio, who represented Canada at the signing event.
The deal will allow airlines from both countries to collaborate on flight routes, creating a more integrated travel network. These agreements generally enable passengers to book seamless travel itineraries, including connecting flights operated by partner airlines under a single ticket.
By simplifying logistics, this arrangement enhances convenience, broadens travel options, and makes air travel between Nigeria and Canada more efficient and accessible. This Code-sharing Agreement is set to strengthen aviation ties between Nigeria and Canada, boost economic and cultural exchanges, and further improve connectivity between the two nations more seamlessly and more easily.
