Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has hailed the recent meeting between Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, describing it as a crucial step towards national unity and effective governance.
Following their meeting in Bauchi, Governor Mohammed underscored the importance of collaboration that transcends political, regional, and religious boundaries, asserting that the governors of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are committed to this unified initiative aimed at revitalizing Nigeria.
In response, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, expressed the necessity for younger Nigerians to take the lead in forging a new direction for the nation.
Okwu highlighted in a statement that Nigeria requires dynamic and innovative leaders capable of thinking creatively to restore the country’s fortunes.
He emphasized that leaders under the age of 65 are essential at this critical juncture when the nation appears to be stagnating.
“Nigeria has endured significant challenges under leaders who, despite their good intentions, may lack the vigor to realize their visions for the country. As we approach the 2027 general elections, younger figures like Governor Bala Mohammed and Mr. Peter Obi are well-positioned to help reshape the nation.
“As articulated by the governor, we encourage them to unite, collaborate, and establish a new direction for Nigeria. The youth of Nigeria are eager to partner with anyone who possesses a clear vision for the nation’s prosperity.
“Governor Mohammed, as the head of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has been outspoken on national matters, much like Mr. Peter Obi. Such energetic leaders are essential for steering the country through its current difficulties.”
Okwu urged other young political leaders to set aside personal ambitions and come together to redefine the political landscape in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
