The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has said the military is expecting a bumper harvest in the upcoming budget defence for the year 2025 to defeat insecurity.
He communicated this at the regimental dinner night to mark the Armed Forces Day Celebration 2025.
He said the occasion was organized to commemorate the country’s heroes and honour the brave men and women who have made the definitive penance to safeguard the country.
“Tonight, we are not only remembering the sacrifice of our fallen heroes who have laid down their lives to safeguard our territorial integrity and national sovereignty, but also celebrating the toughness and bravery of our officers across the armed forces.
“We honour the memories of our departed and accomplishers for upholding the values of trust, loyalty, and dedication that they embodied.”
The Defence Chief noted that the military additionally recognizes the difficulties defying the country and the unfaltering endeavours of the armed forces to tend to these difficulties and foster peace in the region.
“We commend the bravery, resilience, and commitment to duty by all our strong men. To the families of our fallen heroes, we reassure you that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
He reassured that the military high command will uphold and guarantee that the memories of fallen heroes are respected and celebrated.
“Let us also recognize the contribution of our veterans who have served our nation with distinction and honour, including those who are currently serving across various military formations and institutions. Let us dare the world to remember this evening purely as a solid occasion, while at the moment, we also celebrate the dedication and excellence of our men within and across the armed forces,” he added.
The Defence Chief said the occasion similarly gives an opportunity to identify those who have exceeded all expectations to do what is right.
“To the recipients of the Trans-Northern Awards, your achievements reflect the high standards of our military and the embodiment of the values we hold dear, which include courage, discipline, commitment, and excellence. Your actions inspire not only your peers but also the upcoming generation of service members who look up to you as role models.”
The CDS called for the need to jointly tend to difficulties across every structure of the nation by promoting unity.
He noted that the military has, over time, only valued those who have sacrificed their lives while neglecting to remember those who are still alive.
“We feel it is important that we also remember those who are alive.”
General Musa additionally thanked the President and members of the National Assembly for their support.
“We know the budget defence is going to start very soon, and we are looking forward to what will happen. We expect a bountiful harvest.”
