Military Considers Engaging Locally Fabricated Arms Manufacturers

The military has communicated determination in exploring ways of saddling abilities of law-abiding citizens engaged in local production of firearms and military grade hardware, even as it is disposed to putting an end to creation and circulation of illicit arms in the nation.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, communicated this worry during a functional visit to the frontline troops under Operation Safe Haven in Plateau State while exploring a cache of indigenously produced arms and ammunition confiscated within the areas of operation.

In what is the continuation of the CDS functional visits to defence headquarters, the primary point of call was at the headquarters of 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment where he was welcomed by the General Officer Commanding as well as the inspection of the quarter guard.

The CDS company thereafter proceeded to Sector 8 of Operation Safe Haven in Mangu for inspection of military equipment and functional hardware in the forward operation base.

He emphasized that extra assets, including advanced weaponry, vehicles, and welfare improvements, were en route to further improve their operational capabilities.

In his address, the Chief of Defence Staff charged troops to take the battle to criminal hideouts and flush them out totally as a renewed and more noteworthy vigor in the battle against insurgency in the year 2025.

The Chief of Defence Staff additionally underscored the significance of professionalism, discipline, and regard for human rights in the conduct of military operations while he acknowledged endeavours of troops in maintaining peace and security in the areas of operations regardless of numerous challenges.
