Dr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, extended a warm welcome yesterday to Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election, as he rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mbah praised Edeoga for exemplifying that politics should not be a matter of life and death.
The governor emphasized that Edeoga’s return aligns with the PDP’s commitment to reconciliation and prioritizing the needs of the populace over personal ambitions. He encouraged Edeoga and his supporters to feel completely at home within the party. Edeoga, in turn, expressed his endorsement of Mbah as the preferred candidate of the Enugu State electorate, affirming his alignment with this choice.
During the reception in his office, accompanied by party leaders including state party Chairman Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, Mbah stated, “Welcome back home. Your return symbolizes the enduring connection within our party, and I am truly pleased to have you rejoin your family.”
He continued, “What we are witnessing today reflects our party’s philosophy of reconciliation and the importance of mending fences.
“This also illustrates that politics is not a do-or-die struggle; it shows that what we are doing in Enugu State resonates with you, and you believe it serves the interests of the people. You have made the decision to unite and work together for the benefit of our constituents.
“I commend you for your courageous and bold decision. This serves as a significant lesson, highlighting that regardless of our political affiliations, our ultimate goal should always be the welfare of the people and placing them at the heart of our ambitions.”
