The National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and its presidential candidate for 2023, Rabiu Kwankwaso, convened with party stakeholders in Cross River State on Tuesday to devise strategies in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
While addressing attendees in Calabar, Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of unity among party members and the need to enhance the party’s visibility throughout the state. He expressed his gratitude, stating: “I appreciate all the leaders and members of NNPP in Cross River State. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your warm reception. We are very pleased with the party’s leadership in the state. I encourage you to put in the effort necessary to foster unity within the party.”
“Let me express my gratitude for your efforts during the last election in 2023. I implore you to intensify your efforts so that, with God’s grace, our party, the NNPP, will secure victory in the elections in Cross River and across Nigeria.
“Promote unity within the party, particularly now that we have established a significant office in Calabar and numerous local council areas throughout the state. On behalf of my team, I extend my thanks and may God bless you,” he concluded.
IN ADDITION, during a courtesy visit to the state’s Governor, Bassey Otu, the former governor of Kano State praised the extensive agricultural potential of the state, committing to further investments in the sector as a strategy for promoting national development and motivating younger generations. He made these comments at the Government House in Calabar, where he was welcomed by the Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, who stood in for the governor.
The former governor reminisced about his long-standing relationships with Cross River leaders, which date back to his tenure as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1992, noting that Cross River’s fertile land and favorable climate position it as a prime location for agribusiness.
He elaborated that his choice to pursue farming after his public service was a conscious decision aimed at remaining productive while generating sustainable opportunities for future generations.
“I decided to pursue farming because, regardless of whether one is in an office or not, it is essential to engage in productive activities. Agriculture not only maintains productivity but also guarantees food security and generates wealth. I have brought my children along so they can understand the importance of investing in agriculture,” Kwankwaso remarked.
In response to the governor, Odey extended a warm welcome to Kwankwaso and his team, commending their selection of Cross River as a prime location for investment, viewing it as a positive development.
