The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has re-elected Usman Bello-Suru as its chairman, along with other executive members, to guide the party for an additional four years.
The state congress, which received endorsement from delegates representing all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), was carried out via a secret ballot in the presence of party stakeholders and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In announcing the results, the Chairman of the State Delegates’ Congress, Mukhtar Lugga, characterized the process as transparent, credible, and fair.
“I affirm that the election was conducted peacefully and in full adherence to the law,” Lugga remarked.
He further noted that 38 additional executive officers were elected by delegates from the 21 LGAs, praising their patience and dedication.
In his acceptance address, Bello-Suru expressed gratitude to party members for their trust and committed to fortifying the PDP in Kebbi.
“We will collaborate as a family to reposition our party, reconcile dissatisfied members, and ensure the PDP reclaims its rightful position in Kebbi politics,” he stated.
Former PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Aminu Bande, extended his congratulations to the new executives and encouraged them to foster party unity.
“The results of this congress reflect the confidence of the delegates. I urge the leadership to build connections, include everyone, and prepare the PDP for future successes,” Bande commented.
A member of the Board of Trustees, Benjamin Dike, observed that although the PDP has encountered internal challenges in the past, the successful congress indicates that the party is now stronger and more united.
“Nigerians do not need to be informed about the capabilities of the PDP. They have already experienced the contrast between our previous administrations and the current one, which has resulted in economic difficulties,” he added.
Among those re-elected to executive positions were Hussaini Abdullahi-Raha as Deputy Chairman and Abubakar Bawa-Kalgo as Secretary.
Others who were included are Haruna Mai-Jega, the Vice Chairman for Kebbi Central, Musa Dagwaya, the Vice Chairman for Kebbi South, and Jibril Muhammad, the Vice Chairman for Kebbi North.
Aliyu Komo was appointed as the Financial Secretary, Sani Dododo was designated as the Publicity Secretary, and Garba Liman-Boma was chosen as the Organising Secretary.
The roles of Legal Adviser, Women Leader, Youth Leader, and Auditor were assigned to Nura Bello, Rabi’atu Umar, and Abdullahi Muhammad-Bunza, respectively.
