I Planned For Subsidy Removal Fallout – Soludo

The State lead representative, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, stated on Monday that he had expected and prepared for the results of President Bola Tinubu’s “disruptive” policies, which included the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the unification of the foreign exchange windows.

The state lead representative noted during a media conference to commemorate his third anniversary in the state capital of Awka that although the president’s reforms brought about a tumultuous economic scenario, he came up with innovative solutions to deal with the uncertainty, such as cutting waste and recurring expenses.

Nothing has surprised me, the economist and former head of the CBN stated. When I applied for the job, I was aware that the microeconomic environment would be quite turbulent.

“I took office in 2022 ahead of the present administration, which has the guts to address the numerous but crippling subsidies that all governments have been hesitant to address.

Although Soludo admitted that building costs have increased during the past two years since the Tinubu reforms began, he was hopeful that the economic climate would improve eventually.

“All of them are shocks that I, Soludo, expected to occur. We therefore increased (certain things), decreased (some of our expectations), and were astonished by the positive,” he stated.
