Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has issued a stern warning to individuals he refers to as conflict merchants, who exploit security issues for political gain. He urged them to cease their actions, as such behavior endangers the lives of innocent citizens.
During a reception for 58 kidnapped victims at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the Governor expressed his commitment to addressing the actions of politicians who thrive on the worsening of insecurity to advance their own political agendas. Governor Sani emphasized that “the merchants of insecurity will not be happy with the release of these innocent souls because they are benefiting from insecurity.
“As an elected governor, I swore to protect the lives and property of the people of Kaduna State, and we have been doing our best to fulfil this obligation.
“Through our Kaduna Peace Model which emphasizes the use of non-kinetic approach, Birnin Gwari which used to be ‘a no-go area’ for most people has become peaceful.
“Bandits have laid down their arms and markets that have been closed down for over 10 years have now been reopened and business activities have started booming in Birnin Gwari and parts of Giwa local government which was ravaged by insecurity,” he added.
Governor Uba Sani assured the residents of Kauru, Kajuru, and certain areas of Kachia, who are currently facing sporadic bandit attacks, that relief will be forthcoming. “sleeping with their two eyes closed because security forces are on top of the situation.”
According to the governor, “the success that the non-kinetic approach has yielded is a source of anger to most people who don’t have the welfare or wellbeing of our people at heart. They only go on social media to express their anger.”
Governor Uba Sani stated that he is indifferent to insults from political opponents on social media; however, he assured that he will take action. “deal with those whose past time is to spread lies and politicize insecurity in Kaduna State.’’
He added that “politicizing insecurity is not opposition and those elites who are doing so on social media don’t really care about the masses. They are just posting messages to further the political interests,” he added.
The Governor noted that the 59 individuals who were recently freed from captivity received psycho-social therapy and treatment from the Kaduna State Government for a duration of 11 days, with one individual still in the process of receiving care.
He assured that his administration would assist the victims in rebuilding their lives by providing grants to help them resume their business and agricultural endeavors.
Earlier, one of the survivors, Pastor Danlami Mutane, expressed gratitude towards the government for their attentive care and also thanked the National Security Adviser for his role in facilitating their release.
Another survivor, Raliya Ibrahim, extended her appreciation to Governor Uba Sani and the Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, for the support they received.
