Evidently hopeful regarding his reinstatement, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has committed to fostering peace and safeguarding the collective interests of the people of Rivers by establishing genuine dividends of democracy and effective governance within the state.
He also called upon his supporters, the people of Rivers, and all Nigerians to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his prompt intervention in rescuing the state from the impending chaos resulting from the ongoing political turmoil.
In a statement titled ‘Our Journey: Challenging but Progressive and Impactful’, which he personally endorsed yesterday, Fubara affirmed his unwavering commitment and focus, guided by the oath he took to prioritize the interests of Rivers.
As he commemorates two years since his inauguration as governor, he reflected on the challenges faced during his tenure, emphasizing that his administration has made significant strides in the state’s development.
He stated: “Today marks exactly two years since I took the oath of office as your seventh democratically elected governor. On May 29, 2023, I was sworn in following the clear and overwhelming mandate you bestowed upon me during the elections on March 18, 2023. Once again, I express my gratitude for the trust, honor, and privilege to lead our cherished state.
“Executive and legislative institutions and offices are already in progress. Democracy and good governance will soon be reinstated in the state, with both branches collaborating for the benefit of the populace.”
While encouraging his supporters and all Rivers residents to show sincere appreciation to the President for his decisive action in halting the escalating political crisis in the state, he urged them to fully engage in the peace process to facilitate the state’s advancement.
He added: “We are already engaged in the peace process. I urge you to thank the President for his timely intervention in salvaging the situation and stabilizing the political landscape and the state. Without the President’s involvement, the narrative today would have been markedly different.
