The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned to December 10 for a ruling on the bail application by the former Chief Executive of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and two others.
Bello had declared not guilty to the 16-count charges brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The former Chief Executive, alongside Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu are being indicted as 1st to 3rd defendants, separately, in a fresh N110bn 16-count charge tabled against them by the EFCC.
Bello who is the 1st defendant, eargerly denied the claims before Justice Maryanne Anenih as they were read out to them.
After taking their supplication, the Litigant’s Counsel, Joseph Daudu, moved an application for bail.
Nonetheless, the EFCC Counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, went against the application, saying it had lapsed in October.
Making clarifications, the Defendant’s Counsel explained this, saying that the only important application before the Court was the motion for bail with regard to the first defendant, which was filed on November 22.
Depending on every one of the paragraphs of the affidavit, he added that the bail application was likewise backed by a written address.
Justice Anenih added that the defendants are to be remanded in the custody of the EFCC.
The EFCC had instituted a N110bn alleged fraud suit against the former state Chief Executive.
