Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has denied rumors suggesting that he intends to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) in favor of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor characterized the report as “fake news” and a product of “yellow journalism.”
He reiterated his steadfast allegiance to the governing party, stating that he had no plans to depart from the party that elected him.
The conjectures, as per Alia, are “laughable and lame.”
The spokesperson emphasized that his principal maintains a positive working relationship with the chairman of the Benue APC, Benjamin Omale. “There is no doubt about the governor’s loyalty to the APC,” the CPS said.
In a notable political event, the Kwankwasiyya Movement made a strong entrance into Ogbabede Ward, located in the Dekina council area of Kogi State, as more than 300 members from the All Progressives Party (APC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) officially transitioned to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The defection was spearheaded by Husseini Umar Eniji, a notable political figure and a significant proponent of the Kwankwasiyya ideology in the area.
This development indicates an increasing momentum for the NNPP in Kogi State, further disrupting the strongholds of both the APC and SDP in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
Eniji, previously a bold and influential financial member of the SDP, who also ran for the Dekina council chairmanship, has emerged as a crucial force in the growth of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
This defection signifies a strategic transformation in the political landscape of Dekina and is anticipated to have widespread effects across Kogi State in the months leading up to 2027.
