Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed his approval of the Supreme Court’s ruling that confirmed his position as the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2024.
Aiyedatiwa characterized the ruling as a triumph for the rule of law during his remarks at the Akure Airport upon his return to the state capital from Abuja yesterday.
The governor urged Ajayi to put aside any hostilities in light of the Supreme Court’s final decision and called for collaboration with his administration for the greater good of the state.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized that his administration is committed to working alongside the existing security agencies to ensure the safety of the state, noting that significant support has already been extended to these security organizations.
He stated that safeguarding lives and property is the foremost responsibility of any government, and his administration is dedicated to this mission.
“The security of lives and property is the fundamental duty of any government, and that is precisely what we aim to uphold. We are diligently working to ensure the safety of our citizens in Ondo State,” he remarked.
“The security agencies are also making considerable efforts to protect the populace. The state government has been providing them with support, and we intend to enhance this assistance. We have observed that criminals are persistently seeking new methods to infiltrate our systems.
“Therefore, we require additional resources such as trackers and drones. These are essential tools we are looking to acquire for our security agencies, and we are already making progress in this regard,” he added.
