Parents in Lassa community, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, have confirmed that at least 36 children remain missing following the attack on Government Day Secondary School by suspected ISWAP terrorists during the ongoing NECO examination.

The incident sparked protests on Tuesday as angry youths confronted a government delegation sent to sympathise with affected families, accusing authorities of failing to protect residents and prevent repeated attacks in the area. The protesters demanded urgent action to rescue the abducted children and improve security.

Parents, who compiled a list of the missing children, expressed fears over the victims’ safety and appealed to the Federal Government, Borno State Government, and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure their immediate release.

The attack, which occurred during the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination, has heightened concerns over the security of schools in Nigeria’s North-East, where insurgent attacks continue to threaten education and civilian lives.
