The All Progressives Congress has taken another major step toward the 2027 Ogun State governorship election by unveiling a deputy governorship candidate to run alongside its standard-bearer, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The announcement is part of the party’s broader strategy to strengthen its electoral prospects and present a united front ahead of the highly anticipated governorship contest.
Party leaders described the choice as a carefully calculated move designed to balance political interests across the state while broadening the ticket’s appeal among voters. The decision followed weeks of consultations involving key stakeholders, traditional leaders and influential party members.
Political analysts believe the unveiling signals the APC’s determination to begin early mobilisation for the election, especially as opposition parties intensify efforts to challenge the ruling party’s dominance in the state. The move is also expected to calm internal agitations by accommodating various political blocs within the APC.
Supporters of the party have welcomed the development, expressing confidence that the ticket possesses the experience and political reach needed to sustain the APC’s hold on Ogun State after the expiration of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
