Jake Epelle, the founder of TAF Africa, has called the current political climate in Rivers State disgraceful. Epelle made this claim on Tuesday during a guest appearance on an interview.
According to the report, Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and fifteen other members switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) last week.
In a similar vein, political players in Rivers State are preparing for another crisis just three months after peace was mediated between Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and his political son, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“For lack of a better word, this is disgraceful,” Epelle responded. Political meandering is what this is. This is a complete abnormality of democracy. Beyond that, however, we are witnessing the emergence of a crisis once more.
“They have made nonsense of the Supreme Court judgment that says they didn’t defect, and sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can hide the truth, but you cannot cover the truth forever.”
Unfortunately, the regular people will suffer as a result of the nasty politics that these guys are engaging in. There will not be another state of emergency; thus, I believe the President needs to intervene now as another set of problems is starting to show. We have had enough of this foolishness, and it cannot continue that way.”
