Atiku Officially Joins ADC

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the coalition-backed party with which he was anticipated to associate himself prior to the 2027 elections.

On Monday, Atiku announced the news via his social media account, sharing a picture of himself with his ADC membership card along with the succinct words, “It’s official.”

His action comes after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July due to a protracted internal turmoil.

His affiliation with the coalition party, which he had earlier supported in July as a platform for opposition leaders like Peter Obi and Babachir Lawal to run against President Bola Tinubu in 2027, has now been formally established.

The official registration of Atiku and other opposition figures with the ADC had been postponed.

Ahead of the 2027 general election, the opposition announced ADC as a platform, with former Senate President David Mark serving as National Chairman, former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola serving as National Secretary, and former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi serving as National Publicity Secretary.
