Sa’idu Adamu, the suspended Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has declared his resignation from the party amidst an alleged escalating crisis.
Adamu made this announcement in a statement released to the press on Monday in Kaduna.
He stated that the party had deviated significantly from the principles and vision he once upheld, rendering it impossible for him to continue serving with integrity.
The former lawmaker, who had previously been a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and served as Commissioner for Information on four occasions, expressed his concerns regarding the PDP’s worsening leadership issues.
Adamu also pointed to ongoing bitter factionalism and the mass departure of seasoned members, many of whom have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He remarked: “The ongoing crises within our party, the decline of internal democracy, and the evident factionalism have undermined our unity, eroded trust, and made meaningful political engagement unfeasible.”
Adamu clarified that his decision was made after thorough discussions with his family, political associates, and allies who shared his worries about the party’s declining condition.
“I have a sincere desire to function in a political environment that values fairness, loyalty, and promotes authentic service to the people of Kaduna State,” he further stated.
Adamu emphasized that his resignation was not motivated by personal ambition but by principles, citing what he referred to as a “toxic and counterproductive” culture within the party.
While he expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve, Adamu reiterated that the current state of the PDP made his continued membership untenable.
His departure, he stated, was not motivated by personal ambition but rather a principled position against a party culture that has turned toxic and counterproductive.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the PDP in Kaduna State had previously suspended Adamu due to allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
Mrs. Maria Dogo, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, revealed this in a statement provided to journalists in Kaduna on October 7, 2025.
Dogo indicated that the suspension was consistent with the provisions of Articles 58(1)(h) and 57(3) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).
She remarked: “The decision was made on Monday, October 6, 2025, during a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) held at the party’s secretariat in Kaduna.
“The suspension, which is effective immediately, will last for one month pending the results of investigations and subsequent decisions by the party.
“During this time, Hon. Sa’idu Adamu is hereby prohibited from engaging in any party activities at all levels.”
The party assured its members and the public of its dedication to internal discipline, fairness, and justice under the leadership of State Chairman Mr. Edward Percy Masha.
“The ongoing initiatives of the State Working Committee are focused on reinforcing the party’s structures and ensuring accountability throughout all levels,” Dogo added.
