The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced yesterday that the nomination fee for the chairmanship form for the local council election scheduled for July 12, 2025, will be set at N5 million, accompanied by an administrative fee of N500,000. For female candidates, the nomination fee is reduced to ₦2.5 million, while the administrative fee remains at N500,000.

To promote youth involvement, the party has introduced a 50% discount on the nomination fee for candidates under 40, although they must still pay the full administrative fee of N500,000. Furthermore, the nomination fee is waived for candidates with disabilities, who will only need to pay a reduced administrative fee of N250,000.

For councillorship candidates, male aspirants will pay N1 million for the nomination form and N100,000 for the administrative fee, while female candidates will pay N250,000 for the nomination form and N100,000 for the administrative fee. Youths aspiring for councillorship positions will also receive a 50% discount on the nomination fee, but the administrative fee remains unchanged.

Persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) can obtain nomination forms at no cost, but they will need to pay a N50,000 administrative fee. This information was shared in a statement signed by the party’s state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, and the Secretary, Dr. Adeola Jokomba. Additionally, the party clarified that there will be no separate fee for the vice chairmanship position, and all fees must be paid via bank draft made out to the APC, Lagos State chapter.

Chairmanship candidates are required to submit a nomination form endorsed by five registered party members who are also registered voters in their respective wards and local councils, while councillorship aspirants must secure 20 endorsements from registered voters within their wards.

The guidelines highlighted the eligibility criteria, stating that candidates must possess at least a school certificate or its equivalent, with additional qualifications being beneficial. The minimum age for candidates aspiring to chair the council and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) is established at 30 years, whereas those seeking councillorship must be a minimum of 25 years old.
