The Nigerian Export Promotion Council and the Nigerian Data Protection Commission have collaborated to protect the personal and corporate data of registered exporters in Nigeria. This initiative is designed to safeguard sensitive information to ensure Nigerian businesses stay competitive in the global market.
Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director/CEO of NEPC, announced the partnership during a meeting with Dr. Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner/CEO of NDPC, in Abuja.
Director/CEO, Nonye Ayeni of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council emphasized that data protection is crucial for maintaining competitiveness and securing favorable endorsement from the international community, which could enhance Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Nigeria.
In response, Olatunji stated that the NDPC was created mainly to work with key stakeholders to protect individuals’ rights to data privacy, promote secure transactions involving personal data exchange, prevent data manipulation, and ensure that Nigerian businesses stay competitive in international trade by establishing a fair and just legal framework for data protection.
