Siminalayi Fubara the Rivers State Governor, has communicated shock at the activities of the police in supposedly endeavoring to attack the premises of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to disrupt the purposed Local Government election on Saturday.

Speaking at the media briefing at the government house in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara on Friday, mentioned that the move was astounding in light of the fact that he had recently information showing that the police intended to pull out from the local government elections.

He addressed why Rivers State is being singled out, articularly with what he depicted as an unjustifiable spotlight on a discretionary body that falls under state jurisdiction.

Dissenters at the RSIEC on Friday, demanding that the LG races should hold.

He pointed out that the court ruling from Abuja had only instructed the police not to give security, and not to seal the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) premises or slow down the decisions.

As indicated by him, the decision from the Rivers State High Court ought to outweigh everything else, as it was given first.

He underlined the significance of leading the decisions in consistence with the Supreme Court’s ruling which the Federal Government is set to execute.

The Governor noted that endeavors to hinder the races would have extensive outcomes, especially on the government assistance of nearby government laborers.

Fubara encouraged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to be prepared to assume a sense of ownership with any interruptions, advance notice that any endeavor by people or gatherings to stop the decisions would be immovably stood up to.

He reaffirmed that the elections would go ahead as scheduled, and the elected officials would be sworn in. “We are prepared, we are prepared” he expressed.

Fubara and his team storm RSIEC early Friday, where he purportedly have prevented police from ‘trucking away’ political race materials.

He explained that before the election process, a conventional solicitation for insurance has been sent to National Security Adviser, the IGP, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies, along with a copy of the Rivers State High Court judgment.

Fubara finished up by minimizing the significance of police presence, taking note of that they were not expected to be close polling units.

He is certain that other security agencies could fulfil the role of maintaining law and order in the absence of the police.
