A coalition of youth groups within the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has rejected a purported vote of no confidence against the party’s National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel.
The coalition, made up of the APC Mandate Group, APC Youth Vanguard, APC Youth Volunteers and APC Youths Advocates, said the reported resolution did not represent the position of the majority of APC youths in the state.
The groups announced their position after an emergency meeting in Akure, with the coalition’s National Coordinator, Success Adeniken, saying the youth wing had confidence in Israel’s leadership.
According to the coalition, Israel’s tenure had brought improved organisation, growth and greater national visibility to the APC youth wing.
The group also described the national youth leader as a source of inspiration and strategic direction for young members of the party, while expressing support for his continued leadership.
However, the coalition turned its criticism toward the Ondo APC Youth Leader, Opeyemi Adedeji, accusing him of acting without adequate consultation or the backing of the wider youth structure.
The coalition subsequently passed a vote of no confidence in Adedeji and called for his suspension.
It also demanded the appointment of an acting state youth leader, arguing that party decisions affecting the wider youth structure should involve proper consultation and established internal procedures.
The Ondo APC youth coalition urged youth structures across the country to uphold internal democracy and party discipline, warning against actions capable of creating divisions within the party.
