The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Accord Party are supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda made the claim after meeting with Tinubu at the State House in Abuja alongside the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to brief the President on preparations for the campaign.
According to him, the reported support from parties that had previously defeated the APC in elections showed that political backing for Tinubu was expanding ahead of the presidential poll.
“If you look at what the party is doing now, the oppositions are with us. All political parties that have defeated us in any election are all with us; PDP is with us, APGA is with us, Accord Party with us,” Yilwatda said.
He added that the parties were part of the political support base being mobilised for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
However, Yilwatda did not clarify whether the support he described represented formal endorsements by the national leaderships of the three opposition parties or the involvement of individual politicians and groups within them.
The APC chairman also said preparations had been completed for the formal launch of the party’s nationwide presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday, October 24.
He said the party’s state structures, committees and campaign members were ready for the exercise.
Speaking separately, Yari said the campaign council would focus on the Tinubu administration’s record and achievements rather than engage in personal attacks against opposition figures.
He said the APC intended to run an issue-based campaign and present its performance to Nigerians as justification for seeking another mandate.
